This is a new wetland… new because the Town of Thetford owns it, with lands
conserved by the Land Trust. I have birded there for years. A bit
challenging to access, as the beaver are very active.
I hike across the dam. Site is on Houghton Hill, about ˝ mile north from Rt
113 on Thetford Hill. Lots of cattails.
31 species on Sunday: Am Bittern, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, Gr Cr-Flycatcher,
Ruffed Grouse drumming, Bl-thr Green W, Blackburnian W, Ea Kingbird, Br
Creeper.
“Helmet Head”(White-cr Sparrow), Indigo B, Wood Thrush at home.
22 today at Zeebedee: Winter Wren, No Parula, Even Grosbeak, Wi Turkey.
And the usual.
