Today, under very pleasant weather conditions, Ed Hack, Peggy Madden,
and I looked for birds at North Springfield Reservoir in the towns of
Springfield and Weathersfield, VT. Some of the highlights included a
Double-crested Cormorant, 3 Great Egrets present at the same time, an
Osprey, a Sharp-shinned Hawk, 13 Killdeer, an Eastern Wood-Pewee, at
least 15 Eastern Bluebirds, a singing Warbling Vireo, a Carolina Wren,
a Northern Parula, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, several Indigo Buntings,
2 Field Sparrows, a Lincoln's Sparrow, and at least one Bobolink.
Species repeatedly encountered and apparently widespread in that area
today included Eastern Phoebes, Gray Catbirds, Black-throated Green
and Yellow-rumped Warblers, and American Goldfinches.
