Two upcoming Windsor County bird walks are now scheduled in the 2011

the public. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Bring
binoculars and scopes if available and dress warmly. These walks will
not be held in case of steady rain or hazardous driving conditions.

1) The next bird walk in the series is to be in Wilder from 4:00 PM
until dark on Saturday February 26, 2011. Spencer and Doug Hardy are
to lead in a 1.5 mile road walk over fairly level terrain in the
village section of Wilder to be followed by watching for waterfowl
going to roost below the Wilder Dam.

Road instructions for Feb. 26: From Exit 12 off I-91 in Wilder, VT,
turn east towards Route 5. On reaching Route 5 (Hartford Avenue), turn
left. Continue to the fourth right turn onto Depot Street. Take the
next left (onto Norwich Avenue), and then an immediate right going
over a wooden bridge to Passumpsic Avenue. At Passumpsic Avenue turn
right toward the Wilder Dam and continue to the meeting site in the
first parking lot on the right.

2) The following bird walk of this series is from 8:30 to 10:30 AM on
Saturday March 5, 2011, starting in White River Junction, where Chris
Rimmer is to lead in looking for waterfowl and other birds around the
confluence of the Connecticut and White Rivers, after which
participants are to drive to nearby Wilder to look for additional
water and land birds. A walk of as much as 1.5 miles over fairly level
terrain is anticipated in Wilder.

Road instructions for Mar. 5: Take Route 4 eastward in White River
Junction towards New Hampshire. Immediately before reaching the Route
4 bridge crossing the Connecticut River, turn right into the Listen
parking lot which at 8:30 AM will be the starting point for this walk.
Additional directions will be provided there for continuing on to
Wilder.
