Up in the hills above Strafford’s villages, a flock of 6-8 vocalizing Pine Siskins flew into the bare Maples outside the kitchen window this morning. They preened and then moved to feed in a nearby Hemlock. Slowly, they drifted away, continuing to vocalize. The birds completely ignored the feeders and suet cakes hanging within 15 feet of their perches. Wild food abounds and feeders remain quiet. Lucky to spot the Siskins as they moved through!
