Is there anything more wonderful than the sweet music of a Winter Wren along
a babbling brook?
That's what I heard this morning. (Friday, 4/18) Might have even gotten a
glimpse of the little fellow.
Yesterday (Thursday) Seen and heard- 3 noisy Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers, 3
male and 2 female Evening Grosbeaks at my feeder, along with 10-15 Juncoes,
still 2-3 Redpolls, and the usual chickadees, red and white-breasted
nuthatches, Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, Tufted Titmouse (singing a lot), 2
Mourning doves, "necking", and 1 male Purple finch. All of these have been
around all week .
Wednesday. Caught a glimpse of a large Raptor attack under one of my
feeders as it was flying away low to the ground. Might have gotten a Red
Squirrel....or a bird, of course. Seemed to have a heavy load.
Tuesday, in Enfield near the little bridge across Mascoma Lake: 2 Loons. 3
Ring-necked Ducks- 2 male , 1 female. A first for me. All in the smallish
area melted near the shore.
