Around 3:30 this afternoon in thinly snow-covered Norwich village, 3 Bohemian Waxwings landed in a backyard magnolia tree, then flew into an adjacent crab apple which held a few remaining fruits, and then soon departed. These birds showed the rusty color under the tail and had the darker underparts characteristic for Bohemians. This was my first sighting of this species for this season.

Among 17 other bird species detected in the vicinity of the house today, less regular ones for this time of year included 2 Eastern Bluebirds, 2 American Tree Sparrows, 2 White-throated Sparrows, 2 male Red-winged Blackbirds, and a Common Grackle.
