Interesting session at the Wilder boat ramp area from 6:30-7:30 pm this
evening, as part of a coordinated nighthawk watch. All was quiet,
except for a remarkable aggregation of 59 birds in a loose flock that
flew 2-300' overhead at 6:50 pm, heading in a uniformly southeasterly
direction. These birds were definitely on the move, not foraging at all
during the ~90 seconds that I watched them pass. Given the birds'
height, loose configuration and fairly rapid passage, they might have
been easily missed had I not been actively searching.
