At Pompy in Norwich early this evening (July 29), a Short-billed
Dowitcher was moving its bill up and down in the water in
characteristic dowitcher "sewing machine" fashion. The only other
shorebirds detected during my visit were 5 Killdeer and a Least
Sandpiper.

The three Hooded Mergansers flew around briefly but landed again in
another part of Pompy. One Great Blue Heron was at Pompy, while there
were two others in the pond on the west side of Route 5 to the north
of Butternut Lane.
