Hello,

On June 4, 2011 Dr. Len Reitsma of Plymouth State University will lead a nature walk on the Bear Pond Natural Area and talk about the bird research he has been doing for eight years.

Dr. Reitsma has studied the Canada Warbler on the BPNA and the adjacent Town Forest to the south examining that species' habitat choices, breeding requirements and behavior.

He also coordinated a biodiversity inventory of the BPNA from 2003-2005.

Please join him at 8AM on June 4.

Rain date will be the following week at the same time, June 11.

We will meet at the Switch Road entrance to the Bear Pond Natural Area, there is parking at the end of the dirt driveway.

Directions to the Switch Road entrance are;

From Route 4 Canaan, turn onto Switch Road. Follow Switch Road for a distance of 1.5 miles. Turn left onto an unlabeled dirt lane, there is a Bear Pond Natural Area entrance sign mounted on a large pine tree just inside the driveway. This dirt lane is about 0.1 miles long, and parking is at the end.
