Noted A. Gold Finch at my niger seed feeder on the deck so I decided it would be time to add a sock full of niger (Thistle) seed in the big Maple Tree. It didn't take long for the Chickadees to find it and land on it. Later I had 5 A. Goldfinch eating from it and flying to the feeder on the deck.
2 Ravens were back twice today.
1 Red Breasted Nuthatch
1 White Breasted Nuthatch
3 Downey Woodpeckers
2 Hairy Woodpeckers (both F)
Usual Chickadees, M. Doves, A. Tree Sparrows, and Blue Jays ( our pigies)
Waiting for the Redpolls and the Pine Grosbeaks.
Sad no Cardinals this year.
Also have not had any Juncos or B. Creepers lately.
Yesterday I also added a block suet feeder. I put a peanut butter suet mix block in it. The chickadees found that first also. We have been feeding plain suet in a wooden hanging feeder.
