Ever since the phoebes came back two weeks ago and inspected their old nest side in the shed, I have been wondering what they can find to eat since there do not seem to be any flying insects about. Yet I saw one of the phoebe’s make two of those athletic maneuvers during these weeks, so perhaps it was finding an aberrant fly. But today I found a dead phoebe, so I think that may be the answer. This start/stop spring is taking a toll.
