Thanks to a mid afternoon phone call from Ed Hack, I was, later this
afternoon, able to see the three Red-necked Grebes which he found
today in the Connecticut River by the mouth of the Ompompanoosuc
River. Although I saw the birds from the Norwich side, they were
almost certainly in New Hampshire waters at the time.

Other waterbird species in the vicinity of the mouth of the
Ompomanoosuc included 2 Green-winged Teal and 7 Common Mergansers on
the NH side and 5 Ring-necked Ducks in Vermont waters west of the
railway.

Nearby, west of Route 5 in Vermont, a Canada Goose and 5 Mallards were
at Pompy.

George Clark
Norwich, VT
