Phil Brown, Sanctuaries Manager for NH Audubon, made a presentation at Howe
Library this past Wednesday evening for the Mascoma Chapter. In conversation
with him afterwards, I learned that ground doves had been photographed &
identified in CT last summer. So those may have been ground doves I noted in
Orchard Beach, ME the end of August, where I was on holiday with my
granddaughter. Am I correct in assuming the birds might return to the same
site next year? If so, I'll inform someone from ME Audubon about the site.
It was in the dune grass adjacent to a public access path to the beach,
which should remain undeveloped.
