This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Monday, June 23rd, 2014.



A MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen in Newmarket on June 22nd.



An ACADIAN FLYCATCHER was discovered off of Bennett Road in Durham on May 
24th, and was seen several times since then. It was last reported on June 
22nd. It has been seen and heard singing less than 1-mile from Route 108 on 
the north side of the road, among scattered alders in a field and near a 
small pond.



2 SANDHILL CRANES have returned to their summering grounds in Monroe and can 
sometimes be seen in fields along the Connecticut River north of town and 
also in fields along Plains Road.



A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was reported from Arboretum Drive at Pease 
International Tradeport on June 21st.



A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was seen at Cemetery Fields, located off of Merrimack 
Road in Amherst, on June 20th.



2 LEAST TERNS were seen off the coast at Jenness Beach in Rye on June 21st.



A BLACK GUILLEMOT was seen off the coast at Little Boar’s Head in North 
Hampton on June 21st.



A COMMON NIGHTHAWK was seen at Long Pond in Lempster on June 17th.



9 PURPLE MARTINS were seen from Cross Beach Road in Seabrook on June 21st, 
and 6 PURPLE MARTINS were reported from Wakefield on June 22nd.



A BREWSTER’S WARBLER was seen near Iron Works Road in Concord on June 22nd.



A MOURNING WARBLER was reported from Pittsfield on June 16th.



2 CANADA WARBLERS were reported from Rhododendron State Park in Fitzwilliam 
on June 22nd.



A birder hiking on Mount Kinsman reported 2 BICKNELL’S THRUSHES, 2 BOREAL 
CHICKADEES, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, a SPRUCE GROUSE, and an EASTERN 
SCREECH-OWL, all on June 17th.



Birders hiking on Mount Pierce and Mount Eisenhower reported 16 BICKNELL’S 
THRUSHES, a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, 4 BOREAL CHICKADEES, 5 GRAY JAYS, and 5 
FOX SPARROWS, all on June 21st and 22nd.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER nest reported from the west side of Trudeau Road, 
about seven-tenths of a mile from Route 3, in Bethlehem, appears to have 
fledged several young. Birders may be able to locate the fledged young, but 
the nest cavity is no longer in use,
