2010.

MISSISSIPPI KITES have again been reported from the Newmarket and Durham
area. At last report, there are at least 8 KITES being regularly seen. The
best strategy for seeing them is to visit the following areas, and watch for
soaring birds: The Nature Conservancy(TNC) Lamprey River Preserve off of
Packers Falls Road in Durham; across from the Elementary School on Main
Street in Newmarket; and the TNC Lubberland Creek Preserve off of Bay Road
in Newmarket. The KITES are not continuously present at any given location,
and you may have to search for up to an hour or more before finding KITES at
any one site. Be sure to report any sightings on eBird.
