We had a good look at a M Piliated Woodpecker on Bowman Rd. in Springfield, NH late this afternoon. We had noticed evidence of his pecking earlier this spring - lots of wood chips in a snowpile under a tree alongside the road. Also saw one wild Turkey sitting on a stone wall. Yesterday we saw a total of 6 in Enfield.
My Junco numbers have swelled from the 5 or 6 to better than 20.
Yesterday it was like a scene from Hitchcock's "The Birds" at my feeders. The Grackles and a few RW Blackbirds must have numbered 30+. Most of them were back today.
I saw an E. Phoebe in my yard while I was raking the lawn on Sunday.
