The next bird walk in the Vermont County Birding Quest series for 2011
is to be held from 7:00 to 9:30 AM on Saturday May 21, 2011, at Lake
Runnemede/Paradise Park in Windsor, VT (road and carpooling
instructions below.) Chris Rimmer and George Clark are to lead. This
walk is free and open to the public. Children accompanied by an adult
are welcome. Participants should be prepared to walk as much as two
miles over uneven terrain. Bring binoculars if available. This walk
will be canceled in case of a heavy, steady, rain or thundershowers.
The Lake Runnemede/Paradise Park area is among the premier birding
sites in the Upper Valley. Depending on timing, birds present, and
interest of participants, this walk may continue into later in the
morning at a second, yet to be determined, site in Windsor.

Road and carpooling instructions: From Exit 9 off I-91, turn south on
Route 5 towards Windsor. After going about 3 miles southward on Route
5, look for a Guns and Ammo store on the left, with a Price Chopper
supermarket just beyond, also on the left. This walk will begin at
7:00 AM by the entrance to a long driveway directly across Route 5
from the Guns and Ammo store. Please do not drive into that driveway,
vehicular use of which is reserved for local residents. Parking is
available in places along Route 5, but be sure your site is legal. The
Price Shopper lot, quite near the starting point, has been a favorite
for birders who do some shopping there when birding in the vicinity of
the lake.

Carpoolers from towns around the Hanover/Norwich area are to leave
from the River Road commuter parking lot in Norwich by the Ledyard
Bridge at 6:30 AM that morning.

George Clark
Norwich, VT
