Yesterday I had a small(20) flock of male and female red wing blackbirds fly in for a quick feed on the patio in south Strafford.

There seems to be a team effort here: one or two bump the feeder while the rest wait patiently underneath to grab whatever falls out. Then they depart, leaving two sentinels in the apple tree, and return about five minutes later. This began about 7 AM and the pattern continues (it now being 7:30). Over 40 birds -- perhaps as many as 60. Great fun to watch, though the local blue jays are a bit put out.
