This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, December 
15th, 2010.



A female HOODED WARBLER was discovered in a wooded area adjacent to the 
Seabrook Wastewater Treatment Plant on November 27th, and has been seen 
several times since then, but has not been reported since December 8th.



A DOVEKIE was seen close to shore on the south side of Great Boar's Head in 
Hampton on December 15th, and 19 RAZORBILLS were seen migrating along the 
coast on December 13th.



A male HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen from North Hampton State Beach on December 
10th.



A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen off of North Hampton State Beach and one 
was seen off of Fort Stark in New Castle, both on December 10th.



A DICKCISSEL and an EASTERN TOWHEE were seen behind the McDonald's 
restaurant in Exeter on December 10th.



A male REDHEAD, a PIED-BILLED GREBE, a RED-NECKED GREBE and 3 LESSER SCAUP 
were seen on Spofford Lake in Chesterfield on December 9th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen near the junction of Route 25 and Highland Avenue 
in Plymouth on December 11th.



A flock of at least 400 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was reported from the Plymouth 
State University campus on December 10th, and a flock of 15 was seen in 
Moultonboro on December 11th.



A mixed flock of over 100 CEDAR and BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen at the corner 
of Main Street and Tuck Drive in Hanover on December 14th.



Several COMMON REDPOLLS were reported during the past week including 3 in 
Sandwich on the 14th, 1 in Berlin on the 15th, 1 in New Durham on the 13th, 
1 in North Haverhill on the 12th, 1 in Strafford on the 11th, 1 in Rochester 
on the 10th, and 1 in Hancock on the 9th.



A female NORTHERN SHOVELER was seen on South Mill Pond in Portsmouth on 
December 14th.



A male NORTHERN PINTAIL was seen in a pond at the Cranmore Ski Area in North 
Conway on December 10th.



A GADWALL, an AMERICAN WIGEON, and 39 RUDDY DUCKS were seen on Great Bay on 
December 10th.



576 COMMON MERGANSERS were seen on Lake Winnipesaukee in Center Harbor on 
December 14th.



A RUSTY BLACKBIRD and a KILLDEER were seen in the fields of East Conway on 
December 15th.



60 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen coming to birdfeeders in a yard in Berlin on 
December 15th.



A BOREAL CHICKADEE has been seen visiting a birdfeeder at a private 
residence in Epsom.



A SNOW BUNTING was reported from Durham on December 13th.



A flock of 10 AMERICAN PIPITS was reported from coastal Rye on December 
11th.



50 PINE SISKINS were seen at a feeder in Goffstown on December 10th.



A late-migrating RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was seen in Litchfield on December 9th.



30 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen at Rye Ledge on December 10th.



6 AMERICAN COOTS were seen in Eel Pond in Rye on December 10th.



There was a possible NORTHERN HAWK OWL reported from the Moultonboro airport 
on December 13th, but it has not been confirmed. Birders should be on the 
lookout!
