Sunday Sept. 4 at North Springfield Dam

Oliver Peck spotted an American Golden Plover at the water's edge near the log boom that crosses the water. The bird looks very much like the picture of a molting adult on page 37 of The Shorebird Guide by O'Brien et al. A spotting scope is needed to really see the bird. It blends in nicely with the silt covered grass. Don Clark will post pictures on e-bird.

There are also interesting geese in the water behind the dam. There is a group of four birds that appear to be White-fronted Geese.

Further south, at the Abenaki Car Wash at Westminster Station....
73 Common Nighthawks.  Haven't seen double-digit nighthawks since our Dartmouth days in the mid 70s.
