An enthusiastic band of birders, undeterred by the heat
and threat of thunderstorms, was rewarded with a total of
29 species on a Mascoma Chapter (NH Audubon) trip to
Herrick’s Cove today. Highlights were a juvenile and
female pied-billed grebe, wonderful and prolonged views
of hunting harriers, and great views of great blue herons, a
great egret, and a green heron at Allen Bothers Marsh.
