This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, August 13th,
2013.
A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on
August 10th, but has not been relocated since then.
A MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen from Gonet Drive in Newmarket on August 10th.
2 FORSTER'S TERNS were seen in the Piscataqua River off of New Castle near
Great Island Common on August 13th, and 8 LEAST TERNS were seen along the
coast on August 10th.
A LITTLE BLUE HERON, 3 STILT SANDPIPERS, and 100 LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen
in the Little River Salt Marsh in North Hampton on August 11th.
2 GLOSSY IBIS were seen on Great Bay from Moody Point in Newmarket on August
10th.
15 GREAT EGRETS were seen in Turee Pond in Bow on August 13th, and 1 was
seen in Chatham on the 10th.
2 GREAT EGRETS, 4 AMERICAN BITTERNS, and 9 PIED-BILLED GREBES were seen at
Copps Pond in Tuftonboro on August 8th.
3 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS and 7 LEAST SANDPIPERS were seen in Penacook on August
11th.
A CAPE MAY WARBLER was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on August
10th, and 11th.
A RED CROSSBILL was reported from Mount Sunapee on August 11th, and an
EVENING GROSBEAK was reported from Hancock on the 8th.
2 BOREAL CHICKADEES were seen on the Percy Peaks in Stratford on August
11th.
A FISH CROW was reported from Canobie Lake Park in Salem on August 12th.
A family group of at least 5 PURPLE MARTINS was seen near Cross Beach Road
in Seabrook on August 13th.
A PIPING PLOVER was seen on Jenness Beach in Rye on August 10th.
A female orange variant SCARLET TANAGER was seen in Webster on August 11th.
A LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH was heard in Westmoreland on August 12th.
A few YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS were reported during
the past week.
A few MERLINS and PEREGRINE FALCONS were seen during the past week.
A NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL was heard in Penacook, an EASTERN SCREECH-OWL was
reported from Pelham, and several BARRED OWLS were reported from scattered
locations, all during the past week.
