I don't typically contribute to the postings and am more of an
observer/student but I thought this was worth mentioning...

After a morning of birding along the Conn. R. from Hanover to E. Thetford, I
was returning along River Road. As I turned on to Rt. 10, I saw a Bald Eagle
perched just off the road. By the time I turned around and drove back for a
closer look I was disappointed to see that he was gone... but my
disappointment soon ended. I spotted him again, this time in the air. I
pulled off the road and for the next few minutes observed a pair of Bald
Eagles in courtship flight. I have never had the luck of witnessing this
before - in fact, I had not yet even seen a Bald Eagle in this area - and it
was truly an amazing sight. While watching, a second male appeared. He did
not try to take part and seemed to just be observing.

After a few moments they drifted out of sight.

I had set aside the binocs and was content on driving home after a morning
of very pleasant birding, although just seeing the usuals...and then by
chance I looked up and was greatly rewarded. A moment like that reminds me
to never stop looking and that getting up at 7AM on a Sunday isn't all that
bad.

Cheers,
Neal
