This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, July 21st,
2010.
A WHITE-EYED VIREO was reported from Pittsfield on July 16th, but has not
been relocated.
A birder on the Granite State Whale Watch out of Rye Harbor reported 80
WILSONS STORM-PETRELS, 60 GREATER SHEARWATERS, 5 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, a MANX
SHEARWATER, 2 CORYS SHEARWATERS, and 20 NORTHERN GANNETS, all on July 15th.
5 ROSEATE TERNS and over 30 COMMON TERNS were seen in Hampton Harbor on July
19th.
Over 15 NORTHERN GANNETS were reported from the coast on July 19th.
Shorebird migration is starting, as some that have completed their breeding
cycle in northern North America are already heading south for wintering
grounds(!) 25 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 20 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and 225
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were seen in Hampton Harbor on July 19th.
A GLOSSY IBIS and a RING-NECKED DUCK were seen at the Exeter Wastewater
Treatment Plant on July 20th.
A CAPE MAY WARBLER, 2 BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS, and 3 GRAY JAYS were seen at
East Inlet in Pittsburg on July 17th.
A female BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen off of Sawyer River Road in
Crawford Notch about a half-mile west of Route 302 in Livermore on July
18th.
A MERLIN was seen flying over Berry Bay in Freedom on July 17th.
An EVENING GROSBEAK was reported from Pittsfield, and one was reported from
Mont Vernon, both on July 16th.
An OLIVE-SIDED FLCATCHER was reported from Croydon on July 9th.
A GREEN HERON was seen in Eel Pond in Rye on July 19th.
Over 12 SALTMARSH SPARROWS were reported from Hampton Marsh behind Little
Jack's Restaurant on Route 1A in Hampton on July 19th.
