This morning I looked out the window and saw something gray moving in the
pachysandra.  I was thinking squirrel, but when I looked through my binos I saw
a Northern Shrike.  It flew up to a branch with a Short-tailed Shrew in its
beak.  The shrike appeared to repeatedly bite or tug at the neck of the shrew
(to kill it?), and then flew off into the woods with it.

I'd never seen a shrike make a kill before...
