I had thought I had seen the last of the Hummers earlier this week. On Fri., while on the phone a F Hummer came to my window feeder twice within 1/2 hr.
Today we returned from taking the GR (Golder Retriever)
swimming, I stepped out of the garage and heard some hum and chatter. Sure enough a few minutes later while I was refilling the bird bath, a hummer flew to a branch of the large maple. It then buzzed by within a foot of my head and went to the lilac bush where there is a feeder. I decided to change the feed in my 6 remaining feeders. An hour later I saw a Hummer in the lilac bush squeeking and chattering and within a few minutes two flew high to a tree at the woods edge. This PM, at dusk, a smaller and grayer Hummer came 3 times to the window feeder. My guess a mother and late kid.
We took down the feeders at the hospital. They were almost as full as when we cleaned and refilled them last week. They still have flowers around though for any migrants and hangers on. We did not see or hear any there.
Did have a sight on Friday. We were on Route 4 heading toward Canaan, just before we got to Potato Road we noticed a GB Heron flying down the road at almost tree top height. We caught up with him and drove under him.
