UV Birders: One of our subscribers appears to have had their e-mail address book "stolen" by a virus or other intrusive computer program. It automatically submitted to UV-Birders an e-mail with a link to something called "quintocolor." Please delete this message without clicking through to the website.

There is a rash of such intrusive attacks going around right now. Make sure your computer security program is up to date. And always be suspicious of mail that looks out of place.

Although UV Birders avoids most spam because it only accepts posts from subscribed members, this post was sent with the "spoofed" source address of one of our members, which allowed it to be posted. We also avoid spam by not allowing attachments, which I realize is an annoying restriction, but attachments are a very effective method of spreading computer viruses, so this is for the protection of all of us on the list.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Bill Schults
