This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, November 9th, 
2011.



3 adult male EURASIAN WIGEONS were seen on Great Bay on November 6th.



3 BRANT were seen off of Hampton Beach on November 6th.



2 RED-NECKED GREBES and a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER were seen on Spofford Lake on 
November 8th, 5 PIED-BILLED GREBES and over 20 AMERICAN COOTS were seen on 
Eel Pond in Rye on the 6th, and a female BLACK SCOTER was seen on the 
Connecticut River in Hanover on the 7th.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen at Odiorne Point State Park on November 8th, and 
a LAPLAND LONGSPUR and a flock of about 150 SNOW BUNTINGS was seen at 
Hampton Beach State Park on November 6th.



A group of birders teamed up to see how many bird species they could find in 
Concord over the weekend of November 5-6 and they tallied over 80. 
Highlights included: a RED-NECKED GREBE, a PIED-BILLED GREBE, 2 AMERICAN 
COOTS, 170 HOODED MERGANSERS, an AMERICAN WOODCOCK, a GOLDEN EAGLE, 2 
RED-EYED VIREOS, a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, 15 RUSTY 
BLACKBIRDS, 25 SNOW BUNTINGS, and 2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS.



57 RUDDY DUCKS, 5 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 7 SNOW BUNTINGS, and 2 HORNED LARKS 
were seen at the Rochester Wastewater Treatment Plant on November 7th. The 
treatment plant is gated and the hours of operation are 7:30-3:00 on 
weekdays. If you visit, please check in at the office and be out of the 
plant by 2:45 so that plant personnel do not have to ask birders to leave. 
Do not drive on the dikes and do not block the road. The Trails at Pickering 
Ponds, located east of the plant, are not gated, and are always open during 
daylight hours.



2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and a WILSON'S SNIPE were seen in Charlestown on 
November 8th, and 7 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS were seen along the coast on 
November 5th.



At least 4 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen along West Locke Road in Concord on 
November 3rd, and again on the 4th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen along the trail to Little Cherry Pond, 
and 3 GRAY JAYS were seen at the Mud Pond viewing platform, all at the 
Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on November 4th.



A GRAY JAY and 60 PINE SISKINS were reported from the Shoal Pond Trail in 
the Pemigewasset Wilderness in the White Mountains on November 6th.



About 20 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS were seen at New Hampshire Audubon's Ponemah Bog 
Sanctuary in Amherst on November 4th.



Several EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported from Hancock during the past week.



A possible ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was reported from Milford on November 3rd.
