Bob,

It was less common.  Until about twenty yers ago we were well above its northern
limit.  I used to see them in North Carolina with regularity.

In 1975 I was very excited to see one in Saxtons River, VT (fifty miles south of
here) and then to begin to read of other sightings getting closer.
