This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, April 11th, 
2016.



A female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was seen foraging near the entrance to the Pease 
Golf Course in Portsmouth on April 9th, and was seen again on the 10th and 
11th. It was seen in the company of 2 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, often perching on 
the chain link fence around the perimeter of the airport. If you look for 
the bird, be sure to keep clear of the fence by at least 5 feet. 9 BALD 
EAGLES were seen flying near here on April 10th.



A pair of SANDHILL CRANES has returned to Monroe and was last reported on 
March 27th. The birds are most often seen in farm fields along Plains Road. 
If you look for the birds, please look from the road and do not enter the 
fields.



A SNOWY OWL continues to be seen in Rye Harbor State Park area and was last 
reported on April 10th. When viewing a Snowy Owl please do not disturb the 
bird by approaching too closely, and please respect private property. For

A SNOW GOOSE was seen with 10 CANADA GEESE along North River Road in Lyme on 
April 8th and 9th.



An ICELAND GULL, a NORTHERN SHOVELER, and a pair of BLUE-WINGED TEAL were 
seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on April 6th, and 5 NORTHERN 
SHOVELERS and 52 LESSER SCAUP were seen here on the 9th. A LESSER 
BLACK-BACKED GULL, an AMERICAN COOT, and a PALM WARBLER were seen here on 
the 11th.



Birds seen at the Connecticut River in Hinsdale during the past week 
included: 5 RUDDY DUCKS, 7 GREATER SCAUP, a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, and 4 
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS.



A EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was seen in Philbrick Marsh in North Hampton 
near the Rye town line on April 9th.



A GADWALL and an AMERICAN WIGEON were seen at the Magill Bay pullout at the 
Pontook Reservoir in Dummer on April 9th, and 67 RING-NECKED DUCKS were seen 
on Stone Pond in Marlow on April 6th.



4 RED-NECKED GREBES were seen on Lake Massabesic in Auburn, and 2 RED-NECKED 
GREBES were seen on Silver Lake in Harrisville, all on April 10th. A HORNED 
GREBE was seen on Lake Sunapee on the 9th.



An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen near Trask Brook Road in Sunapee, and 7 SNOWY 
EGRETS and 2 GREAT EGRETS were seen along the coast on April 9th.



5 PIPING PLOVERS and 20 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen at Hampton Beach State 
Park on April 9th. A DUNLIN was seen in the Connecticut River valley near 
Hanover on April 8th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, a RED CROSSBILL, and 2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS 
were seen at Mile Long Pond in Errol on April 6th.



45 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen in Meredith on April 10th, 40 were seen in 
Penacook on the 9th, 8 were reported from New London on the 8th, 15 were 
seen in Littleton on the 10th, and several were seen in Hanover during the 
past week.



4 EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported from Walpole on April 3rd.



A flock of 22 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS was seen in Sunapee on April 7th.



250 TREE SWALLOWS were seen at Spofford Lake on April 6th, and 4 NORTHERN 
ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were seen at Horseshoe Pond in Merrimack on the 8th.



A COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was seen in Rye on April 9th, a PALM WARBLER was seen 
in Rye on the 10th, and 6 PALM WARBLERS were seen at the Great Bay National 
Wildlife Refuge on the 10th.



A BROAD-WINGED HAWK was seen in Fremont on April 9th.



More than 8 FISH CROWS were reported from Laconia on April 10th.
