Spencer Hardy: Birding high and low in Perú
Sponsored by the Mascoma Chapter of NH Audubon

Spencer will recount trials and tribulations of his trip last summer to Perú, his first experience birding outside North America. The trip’s objective was to learn more about why White-winged Diuca finches use glaciers for nesting and roosting, a habit unique among all species. Results of these investigations at 5,000 meters above sea level will be presented, along with observations of other species (e.g., Diademed Sandpiper-Plover) seen in this environment – many at higher elevation than expected.
