A couple of Winters ago we had a female Pileated WP visit our crabapples on
a daily basis for about 1.5 weeks.  Each trip she'd stuff herself with the
desiccated fruits until the three trees were picked clean.

 

Interestingly, I would periodically see her around the neighborhood with her
mate but somehow she never brought him along to our trees.
