This Thursday at 7pm, the Dartmouth Bookstore in Hanover is hosting a
bird conservation book signing event. This is a great opportunity to
learn about the conservation status of many of our threatened birds, how
what's happening in their wintering grounds is impacting them, and what
you can do to help save them. I have had the fortunate opportunity to
work with both speakers, Jeff Wells when he was the National Director of
Bird Conservation with National Audubon, and Chris Rimmer here at the
Vermont Center for Ecostudies. I can attest that they are both extremely
knowledgeable about bird conservation and that these books are great
references for the conservation-minded. Hope to see you there! -Julie

BIRD CONSERVATION BOOK SIGNING

Come attend a presentation and book signing on migratory birds, the
Caribbean island of Hispaniola, and how the two are linked through
conservation. On Thursday May 8 at 7 pm at the Dartmouth Bookstore in
Hanover, NH , Chris Rimmer (Director of the Vermont Center for
Ecostudies) and Jeff Wells (Senior Scientist for the Boreal Songbird
Initiative) will discuss local and international bird conservation
issues and sign three recently-released books. Jeff recently published
the "Birder's Conservation Handbook," while Chris is a coauthor on two
books dealing with birds of Hispaniola: "Birds of the Dominican Republic
and Haiti" and "Hispaniola: a Photographic Journey through Island
Biodiversity." This informal evening will begin with an illustrated
presentation by Jeff and Chris, followed by a signing of the three books.
