This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, May 11th, 
2011.



At least 1 MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen flying in Newmarket on May 8th. One of 
the best sites to watch from for these birds is in front of the elementary 
school located on South Main Street. MISSISSIPPI KITES nested in Newmarket 
last year.



A BLACK VULTURE was seen near Evans Mountain in Strafford on May 8th.



A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen in Hinsdale along the Connecticut River on 
May 6th, and a FISH CROW and a WILLOW FLYCATCHER were reported from the same 
area.



An adult-plumaged LITTLE BLUE HERON was discovered at the Exeter Wastewater 
Treatment Plant on May 2nd, and was last reported on May 6th, and 4 
BLUE-WINGED TEAL were seen here on the 5th.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen along Willow Avenue in North Hampton on 
May 8th.



A CERULEAN WARBLER was located close to the trailhead for the Lake 
Wantastiquet forest, located off Route 119 in Hinsdale, on May 9th.



Additional warbler species reported during the past week included a CAPE MAY 
WARBLER in North Hampton on May 8th, a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER in Jefferson on 
May 8th, a MOURNING WARBLER in Surry on May 10th, and several sightings of 
BLUE-WINGED WARBLERS and CANADA WARBLERS.



Several WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS were reported from widespread locations 
during the past week.



A COMMON TERN was seen on Lake Umbagog on May 7th.



2 WHIP-POOR-WILLS were heard in Gilmanton on May 8th.



Several ORCHARD ORIOLES were reported from southeastern New Hampshire during 
the past week.



There were several reports of SORA, VIRGINIA RAIL, and AMERICAN BITTERN 
during the past week.



The PEREGRINE FALCONS that are nesting on the Brady-Sullivan building in 
Manchester now have hatched chicks. Check this link to webcam access:
