My son Spencer led a bunch of high school kids on a bird walk to Mink
Brook in Hanover this morning. Despite all the wind, we had nice, close
views of singing Black & White and Pine Warblers. He also saw a
waterthrush which was probably a northern.

Although the kids enjoyed seeing these birds, the highlight was a very
close meeting with a moose on the trail running upstream along the
Connecticut River. We saw it again from the residential neighborhood up
top, and I was perplexed by the kid's instinct to chase it. Oh well,
nice to see them so excited about nature!
