Early morning fog lifted in time to allow 21 observers on a Windsor
County 2013 Birding Quest walk to find 45 species this morning in the
vicinity of Lake Runnemede in the town of Windsor, VT. Highlights
included a flying Northern Goshawk (seen by 2 observers), an adult
Bald Eagle well seen in flight, 6 Northern Flickers, a Merlin perched
so as to provide great views, 3 Eastern Phoebes, a Northern Shrike
well seen and very early for the season, 5 Hermit Thrushes. a Gray
Catbird, a Nashville Warbler, 2 Common Yellowthroats, and numerous
individuals of several species including Yellow-rumped Warbler, Song
Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, and Red-winged
Blackbird. Also of special interest were a Lincoln's Sparrow, 9 Rusty
Blackbirds, and 5 Purple Finches.

A full list of species can be seen at

Special thanks to co-leaders Sarah Eisenhauer, Ed Hack, Spencer Hardy,
and Kyle Kittelberger. Spencer generously volunteered to compile the
