A windy and chilly day atop Stratton Mountain yielded few birds
overall. Three of us were up there completing vegetation measurements
on Bicknell's Thrush nests. We whistled repeatedly but had no responses
or sightings of that species, or any other thrushes (we didn't get up
there until 8:45 am). No finches at all, other than a passing
goldfinch. The air could not have been more clear, and some nice colors
are beginning to show in the lowlands.
