This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, January 19th,
2015. 
 
A SNOWY OWL continues to be seen at Ragged Neck in Rye, and was last
reported on January 19th.
 
A SNOWY OWL continues to be seen at Hampton Beach State Park or in coastal
Seabrook and was last reported on January 19th.
 
A SNOWY OWL was seen along the coast just south of Odiorne Point State Park
in Rye on January 18th.
 
A SNOWY OWL was seen along Drewsville Road in Alstead on January 12th.
 
1 or 2 female HARLEQUIN DUCKS were seen along the coast in Rye during the
past week.
 
A male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was seen on the Merrimack River in Manchester on
January 18th.
 
A male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE and an ICELAND GULL were seen on Opechee Bay in
Laconia on January 19th.
 
A male GADWALL was seen in a coastal marsh just south of Rye Harbor, and 1
was seen on Great Bay from Adams Point in Durham, both on January 18th.  
 
A male NORTHERN PINTAIL was seen on the Squam River in Ashland on January
11th.
 
A RAZORBILL, and a GLAUCOUS GULL were seen along the coast in Rye on
January 18th.
 
A GLAUCOUS GULL and an ICELAND GULL were seen from the Seabrook side of
Hampton Harbor on January 16th.
 
An ICELAND GULL and a HORNED LARK were seen at Rockingham Park in Salem on
January 13th.
 
An ICELAND GULL and over 70 BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS were seen in East
Kingston on January 19th.
 
An ICELAND GULL and a male NORTHERN PINTAIL were seen at the Exeter
Wastewater Treatment Plant on January 18th.
 
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on multiple days frequenting the Wendell Flat
and Trask Brook Road area in Sunapee. It has been seen between the
snowmobile trail and Route 103, close to the intersection of Depot Road.
 
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in the hedgerows between the fields behind the
Cocheco Valley Humane Society at the Strafford County Farm in Dover on
January 19th.
 
COMMON REDPOLL sightings during the past week included 12 in Newport, 8 in
Wolfeboro, 1 in Brookfield, 3 in New Durham, 2 in Durham, 1 in Concord, 2
in Gilmanton, 1 in Rye, and 2 in Sunapee. 
 
6 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen along Trask Brook Road in Sunapee on January
13th, and 1 was seen in Newbury on January 18th.
 
2 LAPLAND LONGSPUR, a SAVANNAH SPARROW, and 82 HORNED LARKS were seen at
the Malnati Farm, and Agway in Walpole on January 14th, and 8 SNOW BUNTINGS
were seen here on the 13th.
 
There have been more PINE SISKIN sightings during the past week with small
flocks reported from many locations, and a few larger flocks including
flocks of over 50 in Keene, Bedford, Hillsborough, Kingston, and Bartlett.
 
7 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen from Great Island Common in New Castle on
January 17th.
 
A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Newington on January 14th, 1 was seen in Rye
on the 18th, 1 was seen in Hampton on the 19th, and a pair was seen in
Concord on the 19th.
 
A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen in Etna on January 17th, and a RED-SHOULDERED
HAWK was seen in Rye on January 18th.
 
5 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen in Gilsum on January 16th.
 
A BOREAL CHICKADEE was seen in Passaconaway on January 17th.
 
A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW and a LINCOLN’S SPARROW were seen in Greenland on
January 17th.
 
A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and 2 “IPSWICH” SAVANNAH SPARROWS were reported
from Rye on January 18th.
 
A WINTER WREN was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, and 1 was seen
at the Mink Brook Nature Preserve in Hanover, both on January 18th.
 
A HERMIT THRUSH was seen in Hanover on January 18th.
 
A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen on January 15th, and 1 was seen on the
18th, both in Nashua.
 
A NORTHERN FLICKER was seen in Bedford on January 16th.
 
A flock of 18 TURKEY VULTURES was seen in Exeter on January 19th.
 
A flock of 23 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS was seen at Landing Road in Hampton on
January 18th.
