This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, November 14th, 
2016.



At least 1 CAVE SWALLOW was seen in coastal Rye on November 12th.



6 SANDHILL CRANES were seen from Carter Hill in Concord migrating south on 
November 8th.



A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was found at the north end of North Hampton State 
Beach on November 8th, has been seen several times since then, and was last 
reported on the 12th. 2 PINE WARBLERS were seen near the Beach Plum 
restaurant located opposite North Hampton State Beach, and a BLACKPOLL 
WARBLER was seen at Eel Pond in Rye, all on November 13th.



4 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, an AMERICAN REDSTART, and a PALM WARBLER were 
seen foraging at a location accessed from the trails that start at the Park 
& Ride located off of Route 33 in Portsmouth on November 12th. Another 
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at Goss Farm in Rye on November 9th.



A DICKCISSEL was reported from Moore Fields off of Route 155A in Durham on 
November 12th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at the Community Gardens on Birch Street in 
Concord on November 10th, 1 was seen in a cow pasture along Burpee Hill Road 
in New London on the 10th, and 1 was seen in Pittsfield on the 9th.



A PINE GROSBEAK was seen near the summit of Pack Monadnock in Peterborough 
on November 9th, and another was reported on the 12th. 11 PINE GROSBEAKS 
were reported from scattered locations in Coos County on November 12th.



A small flock of COMMON REDPOLLS was reported from Franklin Falls Dam on 
November 8th.



A flock of 10 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen at the edge of Cherry Pond in 
Jefferson on November 7th, a flock of 4 was seen in Sandwich on the 8th, and 
a flock of 4 was seen in Colebrook on the 13th.



3 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen near the summit of Pack Monadnock in 
Peterborough on November 10th, and 1 was reported from Pittsfield on the 
12th.



2 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from Ashland on November 13th.



A few EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported during the past week.



Over 375 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen at Hampton Beach State Park on November 
13th, and there were sightings of up to 14 birds from other locations during 
the past week.



A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, an ICELAND GULL, and a NORTHERN PINTAIL were 
seen at the Rochester Wastewater Treatment Plant on November 7th. The 
treatment plant is gated and the hours of operation are 7:30-3:00 on 
weekdays. If you visit, please check in at the office and be out of the 
plant by 2:45 so that plant personnel do not have to ask birders to leave. 
Do not drive on the dikes and do not block the road. The Trails at Pickering 
Ponds, located east of the plant, are not gated, and are always open during 
daylight hours.



An ICELAND GULL was seen at Hedgehog Pond in Salem on November 14th.



An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen with a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER at Ragged 
Neck in Rye on November 12th and 13th. A PECTORAL SANDPIPER continues to be 
seen at Rye Harbor State Park and was last reported on November 10th.



2 EURASIAN WIGEONS were seen in the southeast part of Great Bay in Greenland 
on November 9th.



A HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen off of the north end of Wallis Sands beach in Rye 
on November 11th and 12th, and a RAZORBILL was seen off of Great Boars Head 
in Hampton on the 11th.



A NORTHERN SHOVELER was seen in Atkinson on November 11th, and 2 NORTHERN 
PINTAILS were seen on Lake Massabesic in Manchester on the 10th.



A LONG-TAILED DUCK and a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER were seen on Dudley Pond in 
Deering on November 10th, and a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was seen at Childs 
Bog in Harrisville on November 12th.



2 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS and 2 GRAY JAYS were seen by a hiker on the 
Crawford Path in the White Mountains on November 10th, and 2 GRAY JAYS and 2 
BOREAL CHICKADEES were seen in Pittsburg on November 12th.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Concord on November 8th.



RAPTOR migration is dwindling and the official staffed observation is coming 
to a close. Over 13,430 migrating raptors were counted at the Pack Monadnock 
Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough, including 5 GOLDEN EAGLES, and 
a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, since September 1st, and over 6,760 migrating raptors 
were counted at the Carter Hill Observatory in Concord, including a 
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, and 3 GOLDEN EAGLES, since September 1st.
