This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, December 8th, 
2014.



A SNOWY OWL was seen atop a light pole near Exit 9 on Route 93 in Hooksett 
on December 2nd.



A SNOWY OWL was seen at Hampton Beach State Park on December 1st through 
4th, and a SNOWY OWL was seen at Rye Harbor State Park on December 3rd and 
4th.



A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen perched on the osprey platform located along the 
banks of the Connecticut River at New Hampshire Fish & Game’s Fort Hill 
Wildlife Management Area in Stratford on December 3rd.



A female HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen just south of Great Boar’s Head in Hampton 
on December 6th.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at Fort Stark in New Castle on December 
7th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen near Pudding Pond off of North South Road in 
North Conway on December 8th.



A SNOW GOOSE was seen with a flock of CANADA GEESE in fields along Route 1A 
in Litchfield on December 5th and 6th.



An ICELAND GULL was seen at Canobie Lake in Salem, and one was seen along 
the Merrimack River in Manchester, both on December 7th.



A BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was seen off of Great Boar’s Head in Hampton on 
December 3rd.



A pair of NORTHERN PINTAILS was seen along the coast in North Hampton on 
December 7th, and a pair was seen along Black Oak Drive in Hollis on 
December 6th.



5 NORTHERN PINTAILS were seen on the Connecticut River below Ledyard Bridge 
in Hanover on December 3rd.



A pair of courting PEREGRINE FALCONS was reported from Nashua on December 
2nd.



20 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were reported from coastal Rye on December 7th.



A BLACK GUILLEMOT was reported from New Castle on December 7th.



An AMERICAN COOT was reported from the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on 
December 6th.



4 BOREAL CHICKADEES and 2 GRAY JAYS were reported from Mount Tom in Crawford 
Notch in the White Mountains on December 7th.



A RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen in Barrington, and one was seen in Kingston, both 
on December 2nd.



A flock of 7 EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in Surry on December 7th.



45 COMMON REDPOLLS were reported from scattered locations around Lake 
Sunapee on December 7th.



A flock of 35 SNOW BUNTINGS was seen at Hampton Beach State Park on December 
6th.



125 HORNED LARKS were seen in fields near the corner of Parker Lane and 
Route 130 in Hollis on December 6th.



A FOX SPARROW was seen in Pittsfield on December 3rd.



A late-migrating CHIPPING SPARROW was seen in Peterborough on December 4th.
