This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, March 19th,
2018.
A SNOWY OWL was seen at Awcomin Marsh in Rye on March 17th.
A SHORT-EARED OWL was seen migrating north in Westmoreland on March 14th.
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW continues to be seen along Ridgecrest Drive in Exeter
and was last reported on March 15th.
A DOVEKIE was seen at Seal Rocks in Rye on March 18th.
8 BRANT were seen off the coast at Pulpit Rocks in Rye in March 16th.
2 BARROW’S GOLDENEYES were reported from the Pemigewasset River in Franklin
on March 16th.
5 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 5 GADWALL, and 11 GREEN-WINGED TEAL were seen at
Bodwell Farm in East Kingston on March 17th.
50 LESSER SCAUP and 50 RING-NECKED DUCKS were seen at the Exeter Wastewater
Treatment Plant on March 11th. The treatment plant is only open to birders
on weekends when no workers are present.
2 AMERICAN COOTS were reported from Pratt Pond in Mason on March 19th.
2 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen at Great Island Common in New Castle on March
17th.
A LAPLAND LONGSPUR, a SNOW BUNTING, and 25 HORNED LARKS were reported from
Bedell Bridge State Park in Haverhill on March 18th.
A few RED CROSSBILLS were reported from Lempster, Bradford, and North Sutton
all during the past week. 6 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were reported from the
White Mountains on March 18th.
A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen near Little Cherry Pond at the
Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on March 13th.
2 PEREGRINE FALCONS were seen along the Connecticut River in Westmoreland on
March 15th.
3 FISH CROWS were reported from Exeter on March 18th.
During the past week there have been multiple reports of NORTHERN FLICKER,
KILLDEER, AMERICAN WOODCOCK, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD, and COMMON GRACKLE.
