A flock of 35 Bobolinks swirling around a weedy field in Campbell Flats
was the highlight of a morning walk there. Nearly all appeared to be
young birds, though I observed at least 2 molting adult males. The
Indigo Bunting bonanza continues along the corn field's western edge.
Few bona fide transients were in evidence.

Highlights:

Canada Goose 43 in field across from corn
Alder/Willow Flycatcher (Traill's Flycatcher) 1
Eastern Phoebe 5
Eastern Kingbird 3
Red-eyed Vireo 3 2 singing persistently; one bob-tailed juvenile
Tree Swallow 6
Barn Swallow 3
Gray Catbird 14
Common Yellowthroat 3
American Redstart 1
Yellow Warbler 3 1 singing
Chestnut-sided Warbler 4 2 molting adults
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle) 1
Chipping Sparrow 2
Field Sparrow 1
Savannah Sparrow 6 probably undercounted; along recently-cut edges of road, diving into corn
Song Sparrow 27 likely undercounted
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 2
Indigo Bunting 16 possibly undercounted; 2 singing; one adult male in transitional plumage
Bobolink 35 minimum number, difficult to count; feeding in sedge meadow/weedy field across from corn; 2 adult males in molt, at least 1 adult female
Red-winged Blackbird 60 feeding in corn, along roadside and in weedy fields
