Here's an updated schedule of April events arranged or noted by the
Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon. Both indoor programs and
field trips are included. All events are free and open to the public.
For more information on Mascoma Chapter events, please visit the
website www.mascomabirds.org

Monday April 2, 2012, at 7:00 PM in the Mayer Room at the Howe Library
in Hanover, NH: Experienced Upper Valley birders and field trip
leaders Becky Cook and Ted Boze will present an illustrated program
"Zee zee zee zu zee - Spring Bird Songs". This program is free and
open to the public and has been arranged by the Mascoma Chapter of New
Hampshire Audubon. This will be a great opportunity for birders to
enjoy the auditory pleasures of bird song and to gain practice in
identification by ear in advance of the arrival of many birds whose
songs grace the Upper Valley during spring and summer.

Wednesday April 11, 2012, from 7:15 to 9:00 PM: Woodcock walk led by
George Clark. Meet at 7:15 PM by the Kendal main canopied entrance to
carpool to watch displays of the American Woodcock. Bring binoculars
if available. Again this spring, the Mascoma Chapter is offering two
woodcock walks, this year on consecutive evenings. In case of steady
precipitation on the evening of April 11, please join the walk on
April 12.

Thursday April 12, 2012, from 7:15 to 9:00 PM: Woodcock walk led by
Joanne Norton and Art Mudge and cosponsored by the Kendal Bird Club.
Meet at the main canopied entrance at Kendal at 7:15 PM to carpool to
watch displays of the American Woodcock. Bring binoculars if available.

Saturday April 21, 2012, from 6:30 to 9:00 AM: Early Spring Migrants
Walk led by Art Mudge and George Clark and cosponsored with the
Hanover Conservancy and Upper Valley Land Trust.
We'll look for waterfowl and early spring migrants along the
Connecticut River from Wilson's Landing in Hanover north to Grant
Brook in Lyme. Bring binoculars and scopes if available.
Meet at 6:30 AM in the parking lot of the Dartmouth Printing Company
on NH Route 10 next to Richmond Middle School. We'll carpool from there.

Thursday April 26, 2012, at 7:00 PM in the Mayer Room of the Howe
Library in Hanover, NH:
"Life on the Bering Sea Islands", an illustrated talk by ornithologist
Peter Stettenheim. Cosponsored by the Howe Library. Dr. Stettenheim
has traveled to the remote subarctic and arctic islands of the Bering
Sea, where birds nest in vast numbers on sea cliffs, and seals,
reindeer, and muskoxen are among the insular inhabitants.

Also noted here: Saturday April 28, 2012, starting at 6:30 AM: Mink
Brook Bird Walk led by Gail McPeek and George Clark and arranged by
the Hanover Conservancy. Bring binoculars and scopes if available.
