Yesterday noontime, followed up on report of Common Red Polls near Parsons Farm on Lyme River Road.  Yes, dozens of them including a handful splashed with rose, enjoying riverbank weed seeds, swirling back and forth across the Connecticut like schools of fish.  

Just downstream around the bend, exactly thirty wild turkeys peacefully working a cut cornfield.  So easy to count their dark forms against the snow.  When we moved here 32 years ago, turkeys were rare, if at all.
