For a short time this afternoon a flock of 10 Evening Grosbeaks
visited the backyard bird feeding area here in Norwich village. These
were the first Evening Grosbeaks detected at this location during 2014.

Also, in recent weeks, a male Red-bellied Woodpecker has been coming
daily, including today, to take away sunflower seeds from the feeding
area. Other species detected today in the vicinity of the feeding area
were 3 Mourning Doves, one each of Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, 4 Blue
Jays, 3 American Crows, chickadees, Tufted Titmouse, an American Tree
Sparrow, 10 juncos, at least 5 male and at least 4 female Northern
Cardinals, and male and female House Finches.
