The highlight was an Orange-crowned Warbler. I studied it carefully for quite a long time, so I am fairly confident of the ID. Amazing that there were absolutely no birds after we left the area at the beginning of the road, even though we walked for a mile.

Orange-crowned Warbler 1 Greenish yellow back with no wingbars. Yellowish underneath with strongest yellow under the tail. Faint streaks on breast. Slight broken eyering. There was a second bird flitting around which may have been another OCWA, but I was just concentrating on the details of this one bird before they flew away.
