About 3 weeks ago, a Eurasian Collared-Dove was observed at the same
residence where one was observed last year. The bird was identified and
enjoyed by the residents for a day or two, and then departed.

Last year, Vermont's first documented collared-dove hung around the same
feeders from approx. 15 Nov. to 7 December (sighting recently accepted
by Vermont Rare Bird Committee). We do not know whether these were the
same bird.

Upper-Valley birders should look carefully at any doves, as the bird may
have taken up residence here; the species is generally not considered
migratory. It would be extremely interesting to document over-winter
survival of this species in Vermont.

Happy Thanksgiving-
Doug Hardy
