On a very nice morning today, 18 people joined in a Windsor County
2013 Birding Quest bird walk on the State Corrections Lands along
Marton Road in the town of Windsor, VT. This is a preliminary report,
and special thanks go to Doug Hardy, who is preparing an eBird
compilation.

Among highlights were views of a American Kestrel, both perched and
flying, and of Wilson's Snipes, often conspicuously perched on the
tops of a post, a bird house, and a utility pole as well as flying
about. A Black-billed Cuckoo at close range showed its reddish iris.
Vermivora warblers included a Blue-winged Warbler and a Brewster's
Warbler (= hybrid of Blue-winged and Golden-winged Warblers). Among
other species were a Canada Goose flying by, 2 Killdeer, a
conspicuously perched Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Willow and Least
Flycatchers, Veery, Wood Thrush, Savannah Sparrow, a few Field
Sparrows, Swamp Sparrow, Bobolink, and nesting Baltimore Oriole.

After the main walk, several participants went to the vicinity of the
intersection in Windsor of Marton and Hunt Roads, where highlights
included snipe again, Chimney Swifts, Least and Alder Flycatchers,
Warbling Vireo, a very recently fledged Yellow Warbler being fed by
its parents, Savannah Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, and Bobolink.
