This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, August 12th, 
2009.



9 CORY'S SHEARWATERS, 628 GREATER SHEARWATERS, 309 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 4 MANX 
SHEARWATERS, 330 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 6 NORTHERN GANNETS, 7 RED-NECKED 
PHALAROPES, 45 COMMON TERNS, and an undetermined species of JAEGER were all 
recorded in New Hampshire waters by birders on a whale watch trip out of Rye 
on August 8th. A RED PHALAROPE was seen on a whale watch cruise out of Rye 
on August 7th.



An adult ROYAL TERN, a juvenile FORSTER'S TERN, 4 WHIMBRELS, and a NORTHERN 
HARRIER were seen in Hampton Harbor on August 9th.



A LEAST TERN was reported from Bicentennial Park in Hampton on August 12th, 
and one was seen in Hampton Harbor on the 6th.



Over 30 ROSEATE TERNS, over 500 COMMON TERNS, and 4 BLACK-CROWNED 
NIGHT-HERONS were counted in Hampton Harbor on August 11th.



A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen at Pickering Ponds in Rochester on 
August 5th.



2 HUDSONIAN GODWITS are regularly being seen in Hampton Harbor at low tide.



32 RUDDY TURNSTONES were reported from Foss Beach in Rye on August 12th. A 
WESTERN SANDPIPER was seen here on August 7th.



A WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was seen in Plaice Cove in Hampton on August 12th, 
and a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was seen here on August 5th.



A PIPING PLOVER was seen on Seabrook Town Beach on August 9th.



3 WHIMBRELS were seen in Awcomin Marsh in Rye on August 7th.



9 LEAST SANDPIPERS and 4 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were seen in Moore Fields on 
Route 155A in Durham on August 7th.



A SEASIDE SPARROW was reported from the Great Bay Discovery Center trails at 
Sandy Point in Stratham on August 9th.



A SALTMARSH SPARROW was seen in The Nature Conservancy's Lubberland Creek 
Preserve in Newmarket on August 8th.



A BONAPARTE'S GULL was seen on Squam Lake on August 5th.



A BONAPARTE'S GULL, 8 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, 2 GRAY JAYS, a BOREAL 
CHICKADEE, and an EVENING GROSBEAK were all reported from the Lake Umbagog 
area in an around Errol on August 5th and 6th.



2 FISH CROWS were reported from Seabrook on August 11th, and one was seen in 
Durham on the 6th.



A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from Durham on August 7th.



3 BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS and a PIED-BILLED GREBE were reported from Turkey 
Pond and the surrounding area, in Concord on August 8th



COMMON NIGHTHAWK migration has begun, with a tally of 8 from the Keene area 
on August 11th.



30 INDIGO BUNTINGS were reported from Morrill's Farm in Penacook on August 
9th.



7 AMERICAN KESTRELS were seen at the Dillant-Hopkins Airport in Swanzey on 
August 6th.
