This morning we went to the Ledyard Bridge area and found the Orchard
Oriole's nest. There did not seem to be any activity in the nest,
but both the orioles were in the area. All of a sudden we watched as
two Cedar Waxwings descended on the nest, one attacking vigorously
the top of the nest, and one pulling material from the bottom of the
nest. The orioles did not seem to pay any particular attention to
this behavior. I wonder if this means the orioles have fledged. Do
waxwings usually do this sort of thing? I looked up pictures of
nests for both waxwings and orchard orioles, and I would definitely
say we were looking at the oriole nest not a waxwing nest.
